Lionel Messi broke down in tears after Barcelona’s Champions League dream ended at the hands of Liverpool.
Liverpool shocked the footballing world with a stunning semi-final comeback win against the Spanish champions, overturning a 3-0 first leg deficit with an epic 4-0 win at Anfield to progress to the final for the second successive season.
Divock Origi and Georginio Wijnaldum each scored twice for Liverpool, sealing an incredible comeback which is being described as ‘Anfield’s greatest night’.
According to The Guardian Argentine superstar Messi was left inconsolable by the defeat, with the 31-year-old’s hopes of winning a fifth Champions League title shattered by Jurgen Klopp’s side.
