Report: Manchester United ask to be ‘kept updated’ on Christian Eriksen future

Manchester United have asked to be ‘kept updated’ on the future of Tottenham star Christian Eriksen.

Eriksen has entered the final year of his contract at Spurs and has been linked with a move away, with reports suggesting Real Madrid are interested in a deal for the 27-year-old as they bid to strengthen their midfield options –  although no offer has yet been forthcoming.

The Danish international indicated earlier this summer that he was prepared to leave the North London side after six years at the club, admitting that he ‘wants to try something new’.

Manchester United are now reported to have been asked to be kept informed on developments regarding Eriksen’s future, as Spurs decide whether to cash in now or risk losing the playmaker for nothing next summer.

According to the Mail, Spurs are working on a deal for Real Betis’ Giovani Lo Celso and Eriksen could be allowed to leave following the signing of the Argentine.

United are looking to add to their midfield options and the signing of Eriksen would represent a significant coup. Spanish duo Barcelona and Atletico Madrid are also said to be interested in the Dane, who would likely cost around £70m.
