Report: Everton preparing to ‘hijack’ Arsenal’s Zaha move

Everton are preparing to ‘hijack’ Arsenal’s move for Crystal Palace star Wilfried Zaha, according to reports.

Arsenal are believed to have made Zaha their number one transfer target this summer, with the Ivory Coast international having informed Palace of his desire to leave Selhurst Park.

Unai Emery’s side have so far failed to meet Crystal Palace‘s valuation of the 26-year-old, with the Gunners seeing a player plus cash offer rejected.

Now, according to the Mail, Everton are preparing an ambitious move which would see them smash their transfer record in a bid to sign the in-demand forward, with Marco Silva’s side preparing an opening offer of around £55 million.

While that is highly likely to be rejected, Everton are believed to be willing to go as high as £70m. It is thought that Palace will not stand in Zaha’s way should they receive a reasonable offer, although it has been previously reported that they want in excess of £80m for their star man.

Zaha has informed Palace that he is ready to end his second spell at Selhurst Park, indicating he wants to fulfil his ambition of playing European football, although Everton are not in a position to offer that to the Ivorian. However, the Toffees hope that their show of ambition could persuade the forward to opt for a move to Goodison Park.
