Rangers will welcome St Johnstone to Ibrox on Saturday afternoon for their latest Scottish Premiership fixture.

The Light Blues arrive in strong shape and currently occupy second place in the league table. Derek McInnes’ men had been on a seven-match winning run before it came to an end, although they are still without defeat in their previous eight games in all competitions. Most recently, they left Dundee FC with a hard-earned 2-2 draw. Before that, Rangers beat Kilmarnock 3-1 and then claimed an impressive 1-0 success away to Celtic at Parkhead.

Rangers team news

Rangers head into the game with major selection problems after a sickness bug spread through the squad. McInnes revealed that around six players have been affected, while one or two important regulars remain doubtful for the match.

The illness issue comes on top of a lengthy injury list, with six senior players definitely unavailable.

Lawrence Shankland, Youssef Chermiti, Daisuke Yokota, Cammy Devlin and Jose Cifuentes will all miss the encounter. Defender Ross McCrorie is also out with a hamstring problem, although he is the closest of the injured group to returning to action.

With Chermiti and Shankland both absent, Ryan Naderi is likely to continue up front. Kevin Kelsy could provide another attacking choice, provided he recovers from the illness affecting the squad in time for kick-off.

Rangers predicted lineup

Possible Rangers starting XI: Pandur; Sterling, Fernandez, Makhanya, Penrice; Raskin, Neil; Bouanani, Kim, Gassama; Naderi

When will the match kick off?
