It may have taken a few months for Chelsea’s £57 million signing Christian Pulisic to announce himself to Premier League fans, but the 21-year-old arrived with a bang on Saturday, bagging a superb hat-trick in the Blues 4-2 away win over Burnley.
The United States captain has had to bide his time since moving to Stamford Bridge, with the youngsters start at Turf Moor his first since the end of August.
Chelsea raced into a 3-0 win over the Clarets, with Pulisic netting a so-called ‘perfect hat-trick’, scoring with his right foot, left foot, and head.
Speaking after the game Pulisic was naturally delighted, revealing that his favourite of the three strikes was his first of the afternoon, dispossessing Matt Lowton near the halfway line, driving towards the Burnley goal before dispatching the ball past Nick Pope with his left.
“It’s incredible, honestly I can’t believe it,” Pulisic told chelseafc.com.
“The goals were amazing. It’s tough to say which was my favourite. The header was cool but I think I’d have to go with the first one, the left foot, I don’t know why.
“It’s actually my first professional hat-trick so I nearly forgot the match ball, luckily my team-mates helped me out!”
Yesterday was Chelsea’s seventh successive win in all competitions and Pulisic admitted that he is really enjoying being a part of Frank Lampard’s exciting young side.
“These guys are so fun to play with,” he added. “We have so much energy. Some of the more experienced guys also bring a really nice touch to the team. Right now we’re just enjoying every moment of it.
“It was a really good team performance. I just wish in the end we could have kept a clean sheet!”
