Premier League Transfer Rumour Mill: Guirassy clause expires

Serhou Guirassy has been one of the most in-demand names of the January transfer window, but Premier League clubs might have missed the boat on signing the Stuttgart striker.

Here are the biggest Premier League transfer rumours from January 18.

Serhou Guirassy’s release clause seemed too good to be true this month. The 27-year-old has averaged a goal every 62 minutes in a record-breaking start to the Bundesliga season, though interested clubs have failed to agree a January deal in time.

Guirassy’s widely reported release clause of โ‚ฌ17.5m (ยฃ15m) has expired for this month, according to Sky Germany, a situation sure to have clubs cursing with Manchester United and West Ham among the clubs interested in the Guinea goal-getter.

Manchester United could turn their attention to PSG forward Goncalo Ramos. Sick of playing second-fiddle to Kylian Mbappe and Randal Kolo Muani in Paris, L’Equipe say Ramos could quit the Ligue 1 leaders after six unhappy months in the French capital. The 22-year-old had been a previous transfer target for United and Spurs.

There’s new suitors in the race to sign Kalvin Phillips. The Telegraph are claiming that Barcelona and Atletico Madrid are keen on the unwanted Manchester City midfielder, with the Spanish sides prepared to challenge Newcastle, Crystal Palace and West Ham for the loan signing of the England international.

Football.London are linking Arsenal with Bruno Guimaraes. Newcastle could be forced to cash in on a leading name due to FFP concerns and the Brazilian is being eyed by Arsenal, despite the Gunners’ own financial restrictions.

Sport Bild claim Arsenal also like Xavi Simons. The Dutch dynamo has been excellent on loan at RB Leipzig this season, though his long-term future at parent club Paris Saint-Germain is less clear.

Finally, Aston Villa like US international Giovanni Reyna, claim Football Transfers, who are also reporting that Bayern Munich will challenge the considerable Premier League interest in Nice defender Jean-Clair Todibo.
