Gareth scored a stunning bicycle kick last night as Real Madrid beat Liverpool 3-1 in Kiev to secure a record breaking third straight Champions League title.
Working as pundit’s for BT Sport were former Chelsea star Frank Lampard, ex Liverpool captian Steven Gerrard and Man United defender Rio Ferdinand, with all three Champion League winniners in awe of the Wales international moment of gravity defying brilliance.
“I’d have gone off on a stretcher [if I’d tried Gareth Bale’s bicycle kick]. Zidane’s [goal against Bayer Leverkusen] was great but that one from Gareth Bale… we were sat here gobsmacked,’’ Ferdinand said.
“There’ll be kids who say ‘I was here’ when they remember that goal from Bale. It makes people just jump out of their seats.”

All three former pro’s also agreed that Bale’s moment is now the greatest ever goal in a Champions League final and was even better than the stunning volleyed strike his manager Zinedine Zidane pulled off for Real in their 2002 final victory over Bayer Leverkusen.
Interestingly, when Bale was interviewed after the game he admitted his frustration and not being a regular starter for Madrid this season and seemed to hint at being open to a return to the Premier League this summer.
