Bale hints at Premier League return after Champions League heroics

Gareth Bale has dropped the biggest hint possible that he is ready to return to the Premier League.

The Welshman stunned Europe tonight by coming off the bench to score one of the finest European Cup final goals of all time, scoring a sensational overhead kick to put Real Madrid into the lead against Liverpool. He followed it up with a 40 yard strike that somehow squirmed its way through the hands of Loris Karius to make it 3-1.

His contribution to the game ensured Real Madrid claimed their 13th European crown, and an unprecedented third consecutive Champions League title.

Despite the jubilation of the occasion in Kiev, it has been far from a happy season in Spain for Bale, making just 23 starts in the League and Champions League combined this season.

His lack of action has seen him linked with a return to the Premier League, with Man Utd, Tottenham, Chelsea and Liverpool all having been linked, and now the £86 million man has dropped a huge hint that he may finally return this summer:

“I need to be playing week in, week out and obviously that hasn’t been happening this season for one reason or another,” he told BT Sport.

“I had a five or six week injury at the start of the season and I’ve been fit ever since.

“I have to sit down in the summer and discuss it with my agent and take it from there”
