Pochettino: We are trying to build something special

Tottenham Hotspur defeated Manchester United 3-0 tonight to seal just their second win at Old Trafford in 28 attempts.

Spurs were derided for not signing any players during the summer transfer window, but they have now sit joint top of the Premier League having won all three of their opening fixtures.

Another major talking point in the build-up to tonight’s game was Pochettino’s poor away record away to other members of the top six.

However, the Argentine coach was beaming after his side’s performance and revealed that he is trying to build something special in North London.

“It is a massive victory for us and I am very proud of the performance. It is difficult to beat Manchester United at Old Trafford. They were better in the first half but we dominated from then on, and the clean sheet was a bonus.” He told Sky Sports.

“It is only the start of the season and we need to be consistent. We need to be realistic but want to keep pushing and building our fitness. A lot of our players have only had three weeks training but we want to build something special.

“This is my fifth year and I have good relationship with my players. We have shared a lot of things over that time and the appreciation is normal. We are in a very important period for our club with the new stadium and everyone is showing a big commitment.”
