Spurs consolidated third place in the Premier League table with a 1-0 win over Brighton tonight at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side understandably looked a little leggy at times, after their recent doubleheader against Man City.
However, Spurs still dominated tonight’s game, with 78% possession and 29 attempts on goal, although they would have to wait until late in the day to seal all three points, with Danish playmaker Christian Eriksen powering home a superb effort from 25 yards out in the 88th minute.
Tonight’s win means Spurs now look in pole position to secure Champions League football for the fourth successive season, and speaking afterward Pochettino was delighted with his sides showing.
“It is always about your confidence, Saturday will be another tough game against West Ham,” Pochettino told BBC Sport.
“We must be confident, the team are doing a fantastic effort after tough games against Manchester City.
“The team are not as fresh as we wanted, not just legs, but minds, so we have to congratulate the players. I’m so proud of them.”
