Emmanuel Petit reckons Arsenal ‘could easily fall down’ when they face fellow top-four rivals Manchester United on Monday night
Arsenal travel to Old Trafford to face Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side this evening, with the Gunners knowing a win will move the club level on points with third-placed Leicester City.
Having capitulated to drop points at Watford on September 15, Emery’s side bounced back with a come-from-behind win over Aston Villa at the Emirates last time out, despite seeing Ainsley Maitland-Niles sent off in the first half.
Petit admits the nature of the comeback against Dean Smith’s side showed the character within the Arsenal squad and is hopeful that can continue when they face Manchester United, though admitting they could also ‘fall down’.
“They reacted well after the points they dropped against Watford,” Petit told Paddy Power.
“In a very difficult game against Aston Villa, having gone down to 10 men and needing to chase back from being down on the scoresheet, they showed character.
“There are some very positive things to be seen here, especially from the younger players.
“The dynamic seems to be good. But you can’t be 100 per cent sure of that, because you never know, they could easily fall down against Manchester United on Monday.”
