Manuel Pellegrini has described West Ham’s win over Tottenham as ‘very satisfying’ as they became the first side to win at the new home of their London rivals.
The Hammers grabbed a 1-0 at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium thanks to a fine second-half finish from Michail Antonio, whose strike was also the first goal by an opposing player at Spurs‘ brand new stadium.
It was also the first time that West Ham had won on the road in exactly four months, with their last three points away from the London Stadium coming against Southampton back on December 27, and speaking after the game, Manuel Pellegrini was full of praise for his side’s performance, describing them as ‘a complete team’.
“The result is very satisfying because for the last two games that we deserved to win but we could not do it,” the Chilean told Sky Sports. “Today I think we were a complete team, defending together without the ball, and we were playing to win.
“I think Marko Arnautovic was very good. He made a brilliant pass for Antonio’s goal. It has been a difficult season but I am sure that we will recover the player that he could be.
“This is a transition season we try not to change too much in our team, but we have demonstrated in big games that we can do it, but we much mentally convince ourselves that we can do better.”
