Nottingham Forest call off transfer talks for Juventus duo

The Premier League side were reportedly looking to sign both players for £21m.

Nottingham Forest have backed out of talks with Juventus over a deal for Timothy Weah and Samuel Mbangula in the summer transfer window.

Reports emerged earlier this week claiming the Tricky Trees were interested in signing the pair as they bid to strengthen Nuno Espirito Santo’s squad ahead of next season when they will be playing in the Uefa Conference League.

Forest were reportedly prepared to pay £21 million for both players, although Fabrizio Romano has since claimed that right-winger Weah had no intention of making the move.

The transfer expert now reports that the “deal (is) off” as the Midlands outfit have left the negotiating table because “they’re not convinced by current conditions of the deal”.

Juventus were eager to get a deal done by the end of June, according to Italian outlet Tutto Mercato, who claim they were hoping to change Weah’s mind about a move to the City Ground.

The USA international wishes to remain in Turin and has received interest from Leeds United, Bournemouth and Everton, per LeedsLive.

In any case, Forest have already turned their attentions elsewhere as Football Italia claim they are looking to sign AC Milan midfielder Yunus Musah instead.

Forest are yet to bring in any new players this summer while losing three first-team players from last season. Andrew Omobamidele has joined Strasbourg, Alex Moreno has returned to Aston Villa following the end of his loan spell and Harry Toffolo has been released. Youngster Jack Perkins has also left the club to join Northampton Town in search of regular gametime.
