Newcastle United are reportedly baffled by a report claiming that Arsenal have entered into talks over a deal for Bruno Guimarães in the summer transfer window.
The Gunners have been linked with a move for the Brazil international as they look to bolster their midfield ahead of next season’s Premier League title defence.
The 28-year-old has been a key player for the Magpies since moving to St. James’ Park from Lyon for £40 million in 2022.

According to The Times, Arsenal have “begun talks” with Newcastle to sign Guimarães this summer.
The north London outfit have until now “indicated through intermediaries” that they are willing to offer up to £60 million for the player, who “wants to join” the club. Newcastle could have their heads turned by a £75 million offer.
However, Luke Edwards of The Telegraph reports that Newcastle are “mystified by claims Arsenal have opened club to club talks” about signing Guimarães.
The Tyneside outfit have not been contacted about a potential “for more than a week”, will not lower their valuation of the player and won’t welcome a bid from Arsenal.
Guimarães, who has registered 30 goals and 25 assists in 153 Premier League appearances, is contracted with Newcastle until 2028.
Newcastle have already made two major sales this summer, selling Anthony Gordon to Barcelona for £69.3 million in May and Sandro Tonali to Tottenham Hotspur for up to £100 million in July.
