Newcastle declare transfer stance on Alexander Isak amid Arsenal and Chelsea links

Newcastle United have no intention of selling Alexander Isak in the summer transfer window.ย

The Swedish striker has been linked with both Arsenal and Chelsea in recent months having scored 16 goals in all competitions this season.

The club’s chief executive Darren Eales admitted in January that the Magpies may have to sell players before they can buy in order to keep in line with Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).

However, manager Eddie Howe is drawing a red line under Isak, insisting that they do not want to see the 24-year-old leave St James’ Park.

โ€œHeโ€™s an outstanding talent and no one connected with Newcastle would want to lose him,โ€ the Newcastle head coach said.

โ€œHe was excellent on Saturday. He didnโ€™t score in open play but his two penalties were outstanding and his general play was very good. His link play, his athleticism, he looked in a really good place. He can go on to achieve incredible things in his career.โ€

Isak, who joined Newcastle from Real Sociedad for a club record transfer fee of ยฃ63 million in 2022, has scored 28 goals in 58 appearances for the Tyneside outfit.

On speculation about his future, Isak said: โ€œIt doesnโ€™t affect me that much. It has been talked about many times, in many windows. I see it as just such a thing.

โ€œEveryone knows that summer is coming and, if things show up, things can happen, but I actually havenโ€™t even thought about it.โ€
