Newcastle United are closing in a double summer signing after triggering the release clause of two players with Premier League experience.
The Magpies have met the asking price for Aston Villa defender Ciaran Clarke and Hull City midfielder Mo Diame.
Newcastle United have met the £5million release clause in the Aston Villa defenders contract, whilst they have also triggered the £4.5million clause of former West Ham midfielder Diame.
The club will now enter talks with the players ahead of potential summer moves to Rafa Benitez’s Championship club.
Newcastle have seen a number of players come and go this summer following their relegation from the Premier League last season.
