Bournemouth defender Nathan Ake is ‘likely’ to join Manchester City this summer as the Premier League champions look to add to their defensive options.
Pep Guardiola’s side are in the market for a centre-back this summer, following the departure of club captain Vincent Kompany to Anderlecht.
City had been linked with a move for Harry Maguire, however, Leicester’s huge asking price has seen the champions look at alternative options.
The Foxes are believed to want a fee in the region of £90m for the England international, which would see Maguire become the most expensive defender in history.
The Dutchman has been a consistent performer at Premier League level, and the 24-year-old would represent a significantly cheaper option than a move for Maguire.
Capped 10 times for the Netherlands, Ake possesses an aerial threat and his ball-playing ability would suit City’s possession-based style.
Tottenham have also previously been credited with an interest, with Bournemouth likely to demand a fee in the region of £40m for the defender.
