Controversial Napoli chief Aurelio De Laurentiis has once again done his best to diminish the achievements of Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri.
Sarri turned Napoli into one the most attractive teams to watch in Europe during his three-season tenure in Naples and finished last season with a club record 91 points, although it was not enough to finish first in Serie A ahead of the mighty Juventus.
The 59-year-old Chelsea manager was a latecomer to elite level coaching having worked in a Bank until taking up football coaching as a full-time career in his forties.
Napoli chief De Laurentiis made it as difficult as he possibly could for Sarri to move to Stamford Bridge earlier this summer and he has once again questioned his former coaches record of having never won a major trophy during his career.
“There remains the pleasure of having played well but also the bitterness of not having won anything,” he told L’Equipe.
“We gave Sarri everything and in three years we didn’t win anything.”
