David Moyes has opened up on the potential return of Jesse Lingard to West Ham, with the midfielder currently training with the club.
Lingard is a free agent after leaving Nottingham Forest at the end of last season and has been invited to train with West Ham, having had a successful loan spell with the Hammers during the 2020/21 campaign.
The 30-year-old scored nine goals and provided four assists in 16 league appearances during that loan spell and Moyes said he is keen to give the 32-cap England international a chance to prove his fitness.
โJesse has trained with us for three weeks and heโs improved greatly from when he first came in,” Moyes told talkSPORT.
โHeโs in really good condition โ much better condition than he was when he first came in.
โI have to say, when Jesse joined us two years ago I think he scored nine goals in 15 games and was probably the difference between us getting into Europe for the first time.
โI want to give him every opportunity to get himself back in condition and see how he does.
“So thereโs no real update on it at the moment, just to say that heโs back and getting much closer to the levels of fitness where youโd hope he would be.โ
