Jose Mourinho insists Tottenham are ‘going in the right direction’ as the club bid to seal qualification for Europe on the final day of the Premier League season.
The north London side travel to face Crystal Palace seeking to secure their place in next seasons’ Europa League, though Mourinho will need a favour from former side Chelsea who face Wolves at Stamford Bridge.
Spurs will climb above Wolves and into sixth if they better their result this weekend, whilst the club could also be handed a second opportunity at continental qualification if Chelsea beat Arsenal in the FA Cup final on August 1.
Mourinho believes his side have shown progress since his arrival at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in November, and insists the club are heading in ‘the right direction’ following an indifferent campaign.
“I think we are going in the right direction. Very calm, organised, measured, thinking of everything,” Mourinho said at his pre-match press conference.
“We know what we can do, which directions we can go in, which directions we cannot. We are very balanced, we’re together. There are no doubts about what we need and what we can get.
“Step by step we will end with a better, more balanced squad, keeping the players we have is a very important thing.”
