Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has today responded to rumours suggesting he is a candidate to replace Julen Lopetegui as Real Madrid manager.
Mourinho’s position at Old Trafford has been the subject of constant speculation in recent times after his sides poor start to the season and it was reported that he was about to be sacked just before the last international break.
Real manager Lopetegui is under intense pressure in the Spanish capital with his side currently sitting in seventh place in La Liga, and as we reported last week it has been suggested that Mourinho could return to the Bernabeu for a second spell in charge of the 13 time European Champions, due to his popularity with Los Blancos President Florentino Perez.
However, when asked if he would be open to a Real return Mourinho replied:
“No, I’m happy here,” He said in his pre-match press conference ahead of tomorrow’s Champions League clash against Juventus at Old Trafford
“I’m happy to see out my contract and I’d like to stay after my contract runs out.
“All I’m thinking about is Manchester United.”
