Mourinho praises Pogba’s ‘personality’ after Young Boys victory

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho hailed the performance of £89 million midfielder Paul Pogba after the France international put in a superb individual display during his sides comfortable 3-0 win away to Young Boys in the Champions League tonight.

Pogba opened the scoring with a superbly taken left footed finish from the edge of the box before stepping up to slot home a penalty to send his side in at the break in a commanding position.

The 25-year-old, who was named captain in the absence of Antonio Valencia, then capped a fine display by laying on an assist for Anthony Martial to score the decisive third goal in the second period.

Speaking after the game Mourinho hailed his star mans overall performance and praised Pogba for taking the penalty after his recent miss against Burnley.

“He felt tired in the last part of the game but it was a good performance. Solid, class and gave the team the pace we needed at times. He controlled the tempo and of course it was a very good goal.’’ Mourinho told BT Sport.

“The penalty showed personality too as sometimes when you miss one you have doubts but none for him.”
