Mourinho: Nobody can complain about our mentality and desire

Jose Mourinho has hailed Manchester United’s mentality and desire following their last-gasp win in the Champions League.

United put in a depressing performance last weekend in the 0-0 draw against Premier League strugglers Crystal Palace and they weren’t much better in their midweek fixture against Swiss side Young Boys.

However, Marouane Fellaini popped up with a 91st minute winner to send Manchester United through to the knockout stages with a game to play, and speaking ahead of Saturday’s game against Southampton, Jose Mourinho has said grabbing a last-minute winner will do wonders for his side’s confidence.

“Any goal you score in the last minute has a special feeling — they are a special moment and they are a good influence on the future,” Mourinho said in his pre-match press conference.

“Nobody can complain about our mentality and the desire in the last part of the game [against Young Boys].

“I don’t think many teams — domestic or abroad — win so many points in extra time.”

United have been the masters of late winners in recent weeks, scoring late goals against Newcastle, Bournemouth and Juventus.
