Mourinho targets Napoli’s Koulibaly to solve Manchester United defensive problems

Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly is being targeted by Jose Mourinho and Manchester United.

The Senegalese centre-back, who has emerged as one of Serie A’s finest defenders, is being lined up to bolster United’s backline with a big-money move to Old Trafford.

Mourinho has grown frustrated at his current defensive options and is desperate to strengthen with current options such as Marcos Rojo and Eric Bailly set to be sacrificed.

As reported by The Football Faithful this week, Wolves have been credited with an interest in Rojo whilst according to The Daily Record Eric Bailly has emerged in recent weeks as a target for Premier League rivals Arsenal and Tottenham.

Despite having barely featured this season, Phil Jones looks set to be offered a contract extension at the club.

The 6ft 5″ Koulibaly has often been linked with a move to the Premier League in recent seasons, with the 27-year-old having shone in Naples since arriving in 2014.
