Mourinho set to hand Manchester United crock new deal amid Arsenal and Spurs interest

Manchester United look set to offer Phil Jones a contract-extension to keep the England defender at the club and avoid losing him on a free.

Jones, 26, is one of several United players who have entered the final year of their contracts including the likes of Anthony Martial, David De Gea and Juan Mata with the Red Devils set to take up a 12-month option on his deal by the end of the month.

The defender, a £15m signing from Blackburn in 2011, has struggled for fitness in recent seasons but The Sun are reported he will be offered a new contract in a bid to ward off interest from Premier League rivals Arsenal and Tottenham.

Jose Mourinho has been keen to add to his defensive ranks and an extension for Jones gives the Manchester United manager time to assess his options ahead of next summer’s transfer window.
