Jose Mourinho would be interested in becoming Arsenal manager should the position become available according to reports.
The former Chelsea and Manchester United boss is yet to return to management since being sacked at Old Trafford last December, the 56-year-old prepared to be patient as he awaits the right opportunity at a club he believes can challenge for major honours.
Earlier this week it was reported that Mourinho was interested in a Premier League return, as he seeks to make history by becoming the first manager to win major silverware with three different English sides, with Spurs having been linked as a possible destination.
According to ESPN though, the opportunity to manage Arsenal would be a position that greatly appeals to Mourinho, with the pressure building on Unai Emery following an underwhelming start to the season at the Emirates.
Arsenal have won just one of their last four Premier League games, while also exiting the Carabao Cup on penalties following the 10 goal thriller against Liverpool on Wednesday night, while fan unrest seems to be on the rise following the clash between captain Granit Xhaka and the home support during last weekend’s 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace.
Mourinho has been working as a pundit for Sky Sports as he plots a return to the dugout, however, with the two-time Champions League winner being currently based in London, a move to an Arsenal side possessing the finances and infrastructure to compete is said to appeal.
Arsenal reportedly have no current plans to dismiss Emery despite the club’s indifferent form, though Mourinho would be keen on the opportunity to replace the former Sevilla boss should their poor run continue.
