With Manchester United seemingly intent on having a huge squad overhaul this summer, Jose Mourinho has reportedly convinced one of Real Madrid’s star players to move to Old Trafford this summer.
It has been reported that Man Utd could lose up to 10 players this summer, with Michael Carrick retiring and Zlatan Ibrahimovic having already left the club, Mourinho is also set to lose Marouane Fellaini on a free transfer in the summer having failed to agree to a new contract.
Aside from that, there are a number of other players in Mourinho’s squad who could be set to be moved on, players such as Matteo Darmian, Luke Shaw, Daley Blind and Phil Jones. There are also doubts about the likes of Paul Pogba, Anthony Martial, Juan Mata and even Alexis Sanchez, who only arrived two months ago.
However, despite Mourinho stating that he is not looking to bolster his attacking options this summer, reports in Spain claim that the Portuguese has ‘convinced’ Gareth Bale to join the club this summer.
The former Spurs man has long been a target for United, even stretching back to his days at White Hart Lane. He has been linked with making the move to Old Trafford in pretty much every transfer window since becoming the world’s most expensive player back in 2013.
Jose Mourinho started his charm offensive to land the Welshman last summer, and believed he had done enough to convince him to join before the European Super Cup between the two sides, but the player decided to stay and have a final crack at making it at Madrid.
However more injuries have hampered his career and is thought to be one of the names who will be allowed to leave as Real Madrid look to overhaul their squad too.
