Mourinho gives Lukaku injury update

Jose Mourinho has given a positive update on Romelu Lukaku’s injury and when we can expect to see him back in action.

The Belgian was stretchered off and placed on oxygen after a clash of heads during United’s clash with Southampton on December 30th. There were fears that he could be out for some time, but Mourinho has confirmed that he could be back this week.

Speaking after United’s 2-0 win over Everton on New Years Day, the Portuguese said:

“Romelu is not a problem.

“Maybe Romelu can play [on Friday]. It was just precautionary by the doctors. It was just following the rules to protect the situation.

“Romelu was in the dressing room. Never lost his memory.

“He wanted to play today [against Everton], but we had to stop him.”

Manchester Uniteds next fixture is the FA Cup fifth round tie against Derby County on Friday night.
