Mohamed Salah joins exclusive club after Brentford cameo

Mohamed Salah joined an exclusive club of Premier League goalscoring greats after his brilliant cameo off the bench in Liverpool’s 4-1 win at Brentford.

The Egyptian international marked his first appearance for Liverpool since New Year’s Day with a goal and assist against the Bees, having come off the bench for the injured Diogo Jota at the Gtech Community Stadium.

Salah’s goal involvements swelled his total further after another outstanding campaign for Jurgen Klopp’s side, for who he has scored 15 goals and provided nine assists in the Premier League alone.

The 31-year-old has reached 15+ league goals in seven straight seasons at Anfield, while against Brentford he became only the fourth Premier League player to score and assist in 30+ games in the division.

Only Wayne Rooney, Alan Shearer and Thierry Henry had previously achieved that feat, a trio of talents remembered among the finest of the Premier League era.

Salah needs to score and assist in the same game a further seven times to replace Rooney as the player to have done so on the most occasions.

Premier League players to score and assist in 30+ games:

4. Mohamed Salah – 30*

3. Alan Shearer – 31

2. Thierry Henry – 32

1. Wayne Rooney – 36
