Salah says Liverpool ‘need to adapt’ to Slot following ‘tough’ win

Mo Salah says that the Liverpool squad are still adapting to new manager Arne Slot, who is ‘quite different’ to his predecessor Jurgen Klopp.

The Reds were slow out of the blocks on the opening weekend of the new Premier League season against Ipswich Town at Portman Road, with the Tractor Boys outplaying the visitors in the first half.

The Merseyside outfit were an improved outfit after the break, with Diogo Jota breaking the deadlock on the hour mark.

Salah doubled Liverpool‘s lead just five minutes later to break the record for most opening day goals in the Premier League era, taking his tally to nine.

“It was quite tough today to be fair, the weather was really warm,” Salah told TNT Sports. “It’s a tough team, I’m glad we won today, I’m always happy to make a difference.

“When [promoted teams] play home especially it’s quite tough. The crowd is always up. We knew that before the game, we’re experienced, so we expected a tough game.”

It was Liverpool’s first game under a new head coach since Klopp arrived in 2015 to lead the club to incredible success over the following nine years.

“It’s quite different,” Salah admitted. “Jurgen was in the team for eight years, he gave everything, now it’s a new manager and new system. It’s quite different for all of us, we need to adapt. We just need to know his way of playing and enjoy the football.

“We don’t need to put more pressure on him, we just need to play football and enjoy our games. Let’s see in the end.”
