‘Excited’ Minamino completes ‘dream’ Liverpool transfer

Takumi Minamino has spoken of his excitement after the Japan midfielder completed a ‘dream’ move to Liverpool.

The RB Salzburg star underwent a medical and agreed personal terms on Wednesday ahead of making a £7.25m switch from the Austrian champions, Minamino officially set to become a Liverpool player when the transfer window opens on January 1st, and could make his debut in the club’s Merseyside derby FA Cup clash with Everton on January 5th.

The 24-year-old impressed against the Reds in both meetings with Salzburg in this season’s Champions League group stages, and will now join the Premier League leaders to add to their wealth of attacking options.

Minamino will wear the number 18 shirt at Anfield and is capable of playing in a variety of roles in midfield and the forward line, and the versatile star has spoken of a ‘dream’ come true to move to the Premier League and Liverpool

“It has been a dream, my dream to become a Liverpool player. And I’m so excited that the moment has come true,” Minamino told LiverpoolFC.com.

“To play in the Premier League was one of my targets. I think this is the top-class league in the world; I was thinking if my career as a footballer progressed smoothly, someday I would be able to play in the Premier League.

“But I never thought I would be able to play in this team and I’m really happy about it. I’m looking forward to it.”
