Kylian Mbappe admits he hasn’t slept since PSG’s dramatic Champions League defeat to Manchester United last Wednesday.

Manchester United knocked the French champions out thanks to a controversial penalty to secure a 3-1 win in Paris last week, becoming the first team in Champions League history to progress to the next round having lost the first leg at home by two or more goals, and Mbappe admits he was left ‘stunned’ by the defeat.

“I’m stunned. We’d worked so hard to get to this point,” Mbappe told French TV channel TF1.

“I haven’t been able to sleep. I’m pretty sure it’s been the same with everyone.”

It means PSG have failed to advance past the quarter-final stage since their Qatari backed takeover in 2011, and Mbappe admits defeat hurt all the more, with success in the Champions League being the club’s main ‘goal’ following their domestic domination in recent seasons.

“Honestly, it’s hard to give it too much thought because the Champions League was our goal. The stadium was full for a magnificent occasion, we spoiled the party. We didn’t want to ruin it but in the end, we did.”
