Superstar striker Kylian Mbappe has named his five favourites to win the 2018 Ballon d’Or.
PSG attacker Mbappe was in sensational form for his Country France in Russia this summer, as Les Blues won the World Cup for the first time away from home soil.
The 19-year-old’s breathtaking displays of pace and skill for Didier Deschamps side were one of the highlights of the World Cup, and saw him win the young player of the tournament award after he became the first teenager since the legendary Pele in 1958 to score in a final.
Mbappe is clearly aware that his exploits this summer and over the last couple of seasons, both domestically in France and in the Champions League, mean that he is a genuine contender for the biggest individual award of them all, the Ballon d’Or.
When asked by France Football who he thought are the favourites to win the Golden Ball, the teenager interestingly chose himself.
Unfortunately for Premier League fans, the young Frenchman did not pick any players from the English top flight, and he also controversially left Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi out of his top five:
“Neymar, Cristiano Ronaldo, Luka Modric and Raphael Varane,” said Mbappe
“To complete, I think I would put myself too.”
