Nemanja Matic has admitted that he doesn’t know anything about his future at Manchester United, with a January departure said to be on the cards.
The Serbian midfielder has become a peripheral figure at Old Trafford since the appointment of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer 12 months ago, the 31-year-old featuring in just four Premier League games this season.
Matic has been linked with a move away from Manchester United in the upcoming January transfer window, Atletico Madrid and Inter Milan both having been linked, and the former Chelsea midfielder suggested that he could leave next month, but admitted he doesn’t really know what his future holds.
โI donโt know what to say. I have a contract for another six months, weโll see in January whatโs going to happen,” Matic told the Telegraf.
โWill I extend the contract or try to find something else?
โUnited have some option to extend my contract, but we will see if the plans of the club match my plans. I couldnโt say anything more because I donโt really know either.โ
Matic has six months remaining on his current contract, though United could allow him to leave the club on a free should a potential suitor be found, as Solskjaer continues his overhaul of the Red Devils’ squad.
