N’Golo Kante looks set to miss the start of the Premier League season after being sent home from Chelsea’s pre-season tour of Asia.
The France international suffered a knee injury at the end of last season, an injury which saw him miss out on his country’s international fixtures over the summer, and has so far not featured in any of Chelsea‘s three pre-season friendlies to date.
His last outing came in May’s Europa League final win over Arsenal, and earlier this week, Frank Lampard suggested that the World Cup winner was ready to step up his return.
However, in what will be a blow to the new Chelsea manager, the midfield dynamo has now returned to the UK to ‘continue his rehabilitation’ following recent complications in his recovery.
“N’Golo Kante has travelled back to the UK to continue his rehabilitation for an injury connected to the knee problem he sustained at the end of last season,” A Chelsea spokesman said.
He now looks set to miss the Blues’ Premier League opener against Manchester United on August 11.
