Gabriel Martinelli admits he ‘didn’t think twice’ about his summer move to Arsenal.
The teenager arrived in a £6m deal from Ituano as arguably the most unheralded signing of Arsenal‘s expensive summer outlay, but has quickly established himself as a favourite at the Emirates, scoring ten goals in all competitions including two in his past three Premier League appearances.
Martinelli’s impressive form has seen him labelled as one of the finds of the season, and the 18-year-old insists he had no reservations about moving to north London following the Gunners’ interest last summer.
“Arsenal was the one who made a firmer proposal and serious planning,” the teenage star told Marca.
“I was offered to train with the first team. We do not think twice. It was my dream and my parents’ dream that one day I could come to play in Europe. I didn’t think twice because Arsenal is one of the biggest clubs in Europe.”
The forward has now scored three times in the Premier League as he continues his adaptation to the ‘intensity’ of English football, and Martinelli has expressed his delight at being able to play in a competition he describes as the best in world football.
“The Premier League is the best competition in the world in my opinion. Each game surprised me more with the stadiums, the hobbies, the quality of the grass … and also with the style of play. All teams attack, want to play and have a lot of intensity.”
