The agent of Anthony Martial has said that he is ‘very pessimistic’ that contract talks for his client will go positively.
The Frenchman, who arrived at Old Trafford in 2014, has just had his contract extended until 2020 after Manchester United triggered a clause in his current deal.
The club have been desperately trying to tie the winger down to a new deal for a number of months, but according to his agent Philippe Lamboley, the current offers ‘come nowhere near’ their expectations.
“I am very pessimistic about discussions going positively,” Lamboley told RMC.
“They’ve already made several offers that come nowhere near to what we expect. We are far from agreement, for the time being.”
These comments were, however, made before today’s incredible news that Manchester United have sacked Jose Mourinho, with Martial and Mourinho having had a fractious relationship during the Portuguese’s troubled 29 months at the club.
