Sadio Mane has insisted that he is happy at Liverpool, despite rumours suggesting he has agreed a deal to move to Real Madrid.
The Reds attacker has had a pivotal role in Liverpool’s recent success, guiding them to consecutive top four finishes in the Premier League, as well as helping steer them to the most unlikely of Champions League finals last month.
The Senegal striker, who is currently preparing for this summer’s World Cup in Russia, scored 13 goals in his debut campaign for the Reds as he took on the mantle as the main man, but following the arrival of Mo Salah, you could be forgiven for thinking his influence has declined.
While he scored three less goals in the Premier League in his second season, his hugely impressive 10 Champions League goals, including one in the final, took his tally to 20.
Then, last week, there were some big claims coming out of Spain that Mane had agreed a deal to move to Real Madrid before Zinedine Zidane’s shock announcement of his resignation.
The 26-year-old has however come out to say that he is happy at Anfield, although he refused to rule out a move:
“I am very happy in Liverpool and my contract will last for three more years,” Mane told Austrian newspaper Salzburger Nachrichten.
“But you never know what will happen in the future. I want to win trophies, especially the Champions League.”
Whether newly appointed Real Madrid boss (and even more recently sacked Spain boss) Julen Lopetegui will make a move for Mane is yet to be seen.
