Noussair Mazraoui took a knock on international duty with Morocco and is a doubt. Tottenham

Dejan Kulusevski (knee), Xavi Simons (knee), Wilson Odobert (knee), Mykhaylo Mudryk (ankle) and Pedro Porro (thigh) are out. Micky van de Ven and Jan Paul van Hecke are available after injury concerns on Netherlands duty, De Zerbi said, although he will consider the emotional aspect after the birth of Van Hecke’s twins this week. James Maddison could return despite a setback that cost him several training days.

Form

Manchester United

United have won once in five league games (D2 L2), the latest a 1-1 draw at Fulham before the break, rescued by Matheus Cunha’s deflected equaliser in the 89th minute. They also lost 3-2 at home to Brighton in the Carabao Cup after leading by two goals. They have kept one clean sheet in seven games in all competitions and conceded at least twice in four of them. They travel to Atletico Madrid in the Champions League on 13 October.

Tottenham

Tottenham are winless in five league games (D2 L3), with their two goals both coming late in a 3-2 home defeat to Aston Villa before the break. They have conceded eight league goals, and De Zerbi has taken responsibility for the start while criticising the defending against Villa. They also lost 3-1 at Liverpool in the Carabao Cup, and their summer signings have cost more than £300m.
