Manchester United are set to offer Victor Lindelof a contract extension after the defender’s impressive end to the season.
Lindelof had been linked with an exit this summer after struggling for regular first-team football under Erik ten Hag, but impressed during a run in the side after Lisandro Martinez’s campaign was curtailed due to a metatarsal fracture.
Lindelof’s form has seen his position at the club reconsidered and The Sun are reporting that United will trigger the one-year extension option in the defender’s deal, which was set to expire in 2024.
The Sweden international has moved above Harry Maguire in the pecking order at Old Trafford and the Red Devils are keen to retain his services given Maguire’s expected exit and concerns over Raphael Varane’s injury record.
United are interested in signing an additional centre-back this summer however, with Napoli’s Kim Min-jae understood to be a leading target.
The South Korean was named as Serie A’s Best Defender for the 2022/23 campaign after a standout season for champions Napoli, who secured a first league title since 1990.
