Report: Lukaku transfer dependent on Icardi exit

Romelu Lukaku’s move to Inter Milan is dependent on Mauro Icardi’s departure from the San Siro.

The Manchester United forward has been strongly linked with a move to the Italian giants, with Inter boss Antonio Conte keen on securing a deal to take the 26-year-old to Serie A.

United will demand a fee in the region of £80m for the Belgium international, though according to the Telegraph, Inter will be unable to match Lukaku’s asking price without first offloading Argentine forward Icardi.

Despite being one of Serie A’s most prolific forwards, Inter are looking to sell the controversial 26-year-old who has endured a difficult relationship with both teammates and the club’s supporters.

Inter could offer Icardi, who has scored 111 league goals in 188 appearances for the club, as part of any deal for Lukaku though United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is likely to have reservations about his signing.

Juventus have been linked with the forward, and their interest could help facilitate Lukaku’s move to Italy.

Lukaku is desperate to leave Old Trafford after falling behind Marcus Rashford in the pecking order, with the former Everton forward having made no secret of his desire to move to Serie A and work under Conte.

However, it has been claimed that he will not try to force his way out of Old Trafford out of respect for the club and its fans.
