Manchester United has named Didier Drogba as his toughest ever opponent while saying that Luis Suarez and Sergio Aguero were some of the best that he ever faced during his playing days.
Vidic is undoubtedly one of the greatest centre-backs the Premier League has ever seen, forming an incredible partnership with Rio Ferdinand at the heart of the Manchester United defence for a number of years.
Despite being one of the hardest defenders around, it wasn’t always easy for the solid Serbian, with Liverpool striker Fernando Torres famously giving him the run around in the Reds 4-1 win at Old Trafford in 2009.
However, despite generally seeming to struggle against the pacey Spanish striker, Vidic has denied that he was his most difficult opponent to play against, instead, naming Chelsea‘s Didier Drogba, Man City forward Sergio Aguero, and Torres’ successor at Liverpool, Luis Suarez as the best.
“People say: ‘You had a difficult game against Torres’, but it was just the one game,” the Serbian told FourFourTwo.
“I went to head the ball but changed my mind and tried to pass to Edwin [van der Sar]. I misjudged the distance and Torres scored.
“Drogba was tougher. Torres always created a chance to score, but Drogba was on you for the full game.
“Drogba was physically the hardest; [Luis] Suarez and [Sergio] Aguero were the best.”
