Manchester United have reportedly launched an ‘extremely flattering’ approach to ‘lure’ Jadon Sancho to Old Trafford this summer.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side have been continually linked with a big-money move for the Borussia Dortmund star in recent months, with Sancho emerging as one of the most in-demand players of the summer transfer window.
Several of Europe’s leading clubs – including Premier League rivals Chelsea – are believed to be monitoring the winger, though Manchester United are believed to be the frontrunners to bring the 20-year-old back to English football.
According to SportBild [via Sport Witness], United ‘absolutely want to sign’ the England international, and have launched an ‘extremely flattering’ approach for the player that includes building an international brand around the ‘style and fashion-conscious youngster’, as well as the offer of the club’s fabled number seven shirt.
The report suggests that while Dortmund have not given up hope of retaining their prized asset, they believe their best chance of keeping Sancho beyond the summer is reliant on United failing to secure qualification to next season’s Champions League.
SportBild also shot a not-so-subtle dig in the direction of the Old Trafford side, saying that Dortmund are aware that the sale of Sancho to United will ‘strengthen an international competitor that has been left behind in sport in recent years.’
The financial power of the Premier League continues to ruffle a few feathers on the continent, it appears.
