Giggs – Manchester United’s new signing is a ‘fantastic player’

Ryan Giggs has hailed Manchester United’s new signing, Daniel James, as a ‘fantastic player’.

Manchester United have today announced that they have struck a deal with Swansea City to sign the 21-year-old, in a deal thought to be worth an initial £15 million, with a further £3m payable in add-ons.

James is currently on international duty with Wales ahead of their Euro 2020 qualifier against World Cup finalists Croatia, where he will be managed by former United winger Ryan Giggs.

Speaking about his former side’s latest pacey Welsh winger, Giggs was full of praise for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s first transfer.

“He is not only a fantastic player, but a fantastic guy as well,” Giggs told Sky Sports.

“He’s very level-headed and yes if it does go through, United have got a very talented and exciting player.”

Asked what advice he had given to James ahead of the move, Giggs added:

“Advice doesn’t change. A club like that is interested in you for what you have been doing.

“Don’t try and be anyone else, don’t try and do anything different.”
