Manchester United have joined the growing list of Premier League clubs interested in signing Patrick Dorgu from Lecce.
Dorgu hit the headlines last week after marking his Denmark debut with a goal against Switzerland.
The left-back took just 42 seconds to score after coming on as a late substitute, opening his account for the national team with his first touch in a Denmark shirt. It continues a rapid rise for the 19-year-old, who made 32 league appearances during a breakthrough Serie A season in 2023/24.
Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur each considered moves for Dorgu in the summer but baulked at Lecce’s £30m valuation of the teenager. The London rivals are continuing to track the Danish defender’s progress but could face competition from Manchester United.
HITC are reporting that the Red Devils are monitoring Dorgu as a potential long-term solution to the club’s problem position at left-back. Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia have each endured tough periods with injuries and made just 12 league appearances combined last season.
Dorgu has emerged as an option for Erik ten Hag’s team, who are assessing left-backs ahead of the next transfer window. Juan Cabal is also on the radar of the club’s recruitment team after an impressive start to the season at Juventus.
