Manchester City host Champions League holders Paris Saint-Germain at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday in matchday two of the league phase.
Enzo Maresca’s side have won all eight of their matches in all competitions this season, scoring 23 goals, and are top of the Premier League with 18 points from six games after a 3-0 win at Liverpool on Sunday. They beat Porto 2-0 on matchday one.
PSG, winners of the last two Champions Leagues, beat Slovan Bratislava 6-1 on matchday one but are sixth in Ligue 1, three points behind Monaco, after failing to win any of their first three league games. They have since won four in a row in all competitions.
Maresca said City need “the perfect game” against what he called the best team in Europe, while believing they can win if they play their best. Goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, who won the 2024-25 Champions League with PSG, faces his former club for the first time since joining City, and former City attacker Ferran Torres is expected to start for PSG.
Erling Haaland has scored 36 Champions League goals for City and will become the club’s leading scorer in the competition if he scores, overtaking Sergio Aguero. Pep Guardiola is expected at the Etihad for the first time since leaving City.

Team news
Manchester City
City have no injury or suspension concerns. Phil Foden is available after serving a three-match domestic ban for his red card against Manchester United in September. Jeremy Doku, who set up one goal and scored another from the bench at Anfield, is in contention for a start on the left. Josko Gvardiol is pushing for a recall at left-back, with Nico O’Reilly the player most likely to make way.
Paris Saint-Germain
Senny Mayulu has a dead leg and is the only injury concern, and Luis Enrique said having all his players available is positive for a coach. Ousmane Dembele and Nuno Mendes were rested for the win over Le Mans and are expected to return. Marquinhos, William Pacho, Vitinha, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Torres are also tipped to come back into the XI, with as many as eight changes expected.
Form
Manchester City
City have won all eight of their matches under Maresca in all competitions, and have lost only one of their last 25 home games in the Champions League group stage or league phase (21 wins, three draws). At Anfield they won 3-0 against ten men, with Haaland, Doku and Rayan Cherki scoring in the second half after a goalless first 62 minutes. Maresca said the run has featured very different games, including coming from 1-0 down against Bournemouth and playing with ten men at Manchester United.
Paris Saint-Germain
PSG’s slow start in Ligue 1 (two draws and a defeat) has been followed by wins over Brest, Marseille and Le Mans, the last 3-1 with a much-changed side. Luis Enrique said his team have started the season brilliantly without getting the results they deserve, and that he is not worried. PSG are unbeaten in their last 11 meetings with English clubs in UEFA competitions (eight wins, three draws), but have not won in any of their last four visits to the Etihad (one draw, three defeats).
Predicted lineups
Manchester City predicted XI: Donnarumma; Nunes, Dias, Guehi, Gvardiol; Anderson, Fernandez; Semenyo, Cherki, Doku; Haaland
Paris Saint-Germain predicted XI: Safonov; Hakimi, Marquinhos, Pacho, Mendes; Neves, Vitinha, Ruiz; Torres, Dembele, Kvaratskhelia
