Manchester United are reportedly weighing up a move for highly-rated Rennes midfielder Eduardo Camavinga, with the player yet to commit his future to his current side.
The France international has undoubtedly been one of the breakout stars of the last few seasons, having made his Ligue 1 debut as a 16-year-old back in the 2018/19 campaign, becoming the club’s youngest ever player in the process.
Still just 18, the versatile midfielder has already picked up three caps at senior international level for the World Champions and despite missing out on this summer’s European Championship squad, he is set to feature in France’s Olympic squad in Tokyo next month.
Such has been his meteoric rise into first-team football, the Angola-born youngster is already being courted by some of Europe’s elite, with Paris Saint-Germain having previously been linked with his signature, as well as Real Madrid and Arsenal.
According to the Mail, however, Manchester United are also said to be in the mix, the Red Devils ‘weighing up’ making an offer for the player once the transfer of Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho is confirmed.
Camavinga is currently entering into the final year of his existing deal with little expectation that he will sign a new contract, leaving the very real possibility that he could depart for nothing in 12 months’ time, with United hoping to exploit that situation with an offer this summer.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and co are said to be targeting a new central midfielder and centre-back once the Jadon Sancho saga has finally come to an end, the Englishman edging closer to making the £77m switch to Old Trafford.
Once that deal is done the report suggests that the club will turn their attentions to Camavinga, while they have also been linked with his fellow countryman Raphael Varane in recent times, as well as Villarreal and Spain defender Pau Torres.
