Man Utd and Spurs express interest in Rudiger, but Real Madrid leading the race to sign Chelsea defender

Manchester United and Tottenham are interested in signing Antonio Rudiger, though it is Real Madrid who are leading the race to sign the Chelsea defender at present.

Rudiger is attracting interest from several leading clubs with the centre-back yet to sign a new deal at Stamford Bridge, his current contract set to expire at the end of the season with the 28-year-old free to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with foreign sides from next month.

The Germany international has been an integral figure in the side since Thomas Tuchel’s arrival as manager, with Chelsea securing Champions League success last season and compiling a formidable defensive record under the former Paris Saint-Germain head coach.

The Independent are reporting that Rudiger’s representatives have held informal discussions with both Real Madrid and Bayern Munich over a transfer, with the proposals from both sides currently ‘significantly’ more lucrative than the offer tabled at Chelsea.

Manchester United and Tottenham are also said to have ‘expressed an interest’ in the defender, though Rudiger would prefer to move abroad should a new deal not be agreed in west London.

Chelsea also remain in negotiations with Andreas Christensen over a new contract with the Denmark international also currently set to become a free agent next summer.
