Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is plotting a raid on his former club Chelsea as he wants to sign Nemanja Matic.
The former Chelsea boss is looking to sign a dominant holding midfielder in an attempt to being the best out of world record signing Paul Pogba.
The Manchester Evening News claim that while Mourinho’s first choice is to sign Spurs midfielder Eric Dier, a potential move for the England international would be very difficult to secure.
Mourinho believes that making a move for Matic could be an more easily attainable alternative.
Antonio Conte is plotting a summer spending spree, as he looks to challenge on both Premier League and Champions League fronts next season. This could mean that Matic may find his game time with the newly crowned Premier League champions limited.
Jose Mourinho is also planning to splash the cash as he looks to turn United into title challengers once again. He needs to strengthen his midfield and having taken Matic from Benfica to Chelsea two years ago, he knows what the 28-year-old can bring to his squad.
Mourinho is also interested in signing the Sebian’s Chelsea teammate Willian, who has found his game time limited this season under Italian manager Conte.
