Manchester United legend Roy Keane has slammed Paul Pogba following his recent performances for the club.
Pogba was hauled off during United’s defeat to Wembley, and once again against Newcastle, with many people criticising his poor performances as part of a midfield two.
Reports in the papers today suggest that United’s club record signing has asked Jose Mourinho to play a three man midfield in order to allow him to express himself in an attacking sense, rather than focussing on his defensive duties when playing in a two.
However, former Manchester United midfield enforcer had some pretty strong words for the £89m, telling him to focus on playing the game. He told ITV Sport:
“Any top player if they are going to play in midfield should be able to play in a two or a three.
“The guy just needs to do better himself and focus on what the game of football is all about.”
Pogba will have the chance of redemption at the weekend, with United facing Huddersfield Town in the fifth round of the FA Cup. The Red Devils have already encountered defeat at the hands of the Terriers earlier this season, and will be hoping not to slip up once more.
Keane, who was holding nothing back, also branded Chelsea’s players as unprofessional after their recent form.
